Dssolvr Dec 9 Pints and Pottery: MYO Mug
Date: Monday, December 9, 2024, 6pm - 8:30pm
Location:Durham Dssolvr Brewery, 630 Rigsbee Ave, Durham, NC 27701.
Enjoy a brew while you design and sculpt a functional mug! You will be provided with cream-white clay from which you can make one standard size mug or two espresso shot mugs. We will use the pinch pot and coil method, and you can use carving tools and a variety of stamps to decorate the surface if you choose.
At the end of class, I will take your artwork to my studio to be fired, glazed, and fired again. You will have the choice between a sky blue, jade green or clear glaze (pictured here). They will be microwave and dishwasher safe!
Your mug will be available for pick-up at Dssolvr Brewery in Durham once they are finished.
***Very important*** Pottery is a bit of science and a lot of physics, and random things happen in the creation process. I will try my absolute best to care for your creation from start to finish, but strange things do happen as pots dry, such as cracking and warping. I will explain how you can likely prevent them while we are sculpting, but I’m always surprised by what clay will do. By signing up for this class, you accept the fate of the kiln gods, and there are no refunds or replacements for projects that do not survive the process.
