Enjoy a beverage at Gizmo Brew Works in Durham, NC while you design and create your own ornaments! You will be provided with one 7” x 11” slab of cream-white clay from which you can make as many hangable things as desired. Participants have walked away with anywhere from 3 to 8 creations, depending on size and design. Templates will be provided for popular shapes like circles and trees, or you can freehand cut the shape(s) you want. I will teach you how to apply underglaze decal images to personalize each ornament! A wide variety of designs will be offered such as Christmas, Hannukah, fungi, plants, dinosaurs, and animals, and some are pictured here.

At the end of class, I will take your creations to my studio to be fired, waxed, clear-glazed, and fired again. They will be dishwasher and microwave-safe. Your ornaments will be available for pick-up at Gizmo in Durham once they are finished.

***Very important*** Pottery is a bit of science and a lot of physics, and random things happen in the creation process. I will try my absolute best to care for your creation from start to finish, but strange things do happen as slabs dry, such as cracking and warping. I will explain how you can likely prevent them while we are sculpting, but I’m always surprised by what clay will do. By signing up for this class, you accept the fate of the kiln gods, and there are no refunds or replacements for projects that do not survive the process.

Your dishes will be available for pick-up at Gizmo in Durham once they are finished. Please choose local pickup/delivery for the shipping option to avoid shipping fees.
